About iSkillLink
We believe a skill is best learned by doing it, with someone who does it every day.
iSkillLink is a marketplace in Mbarara, Uganda, for learning practical skills from people who do them for a living. Learners book hands-on sessions with tailors, electricians, bakers, carpenters and technicians, usually at the educator’s own workshop. Every educator passes four checks, including an ID check and a workshop visit, before anyone can book them.

Questions
Your questions, answered clearly
The things people ask us most, from finding an educator to teaching on iSkillLink.
Search iSkillLink for what you want to learn, or open a skill such as tailoring, baking or solar installation to see the educators who teach it. If nobody teaches it yet, send a request and the iSkillLink team will match you as soon as a suitable educator is verified.
Yes. Every educator passes four checks before they can take bookings: iSkillLink matches their NIN to their national ID card, reviews an LC1 letter and police clearance, interviews them, and visits their workshop to see their tools and finished work. Profiles still being checked say so and can’t be booked.
Most iSkillLink lessons happen at the educator’s own workshop in Mbarara, so you learn with real tools on real jobs, one-to-one or in a small group. Skills that suit a screen, such as web development or graphic design, can also be taught online or as a mix of online and workshop sessions.
Open an educator’s profile on iSkillLink, choose a date, a start time and how long you want, and send the booking request. The educator confirms the session or suggests another time, and you get a notification either way. You can follow every booking from your learner dashboard.
Yes. If you practise a skill, from tailoring and baking to welding or web development, create a free educator account and send your application; it takes about ten minutes, and you don’t need a certificate. The iSkillLink team then arranges the four checks, and once they are done learners can book you.
